Members triage1998 Posted August 3, 2012 Members Report Posted August 3, 2012 I am making my first thumb break holster using 7/8 oz HO leather and have a few questions. I purchased some thumb break metal reinforcement pieces and some from Tim over at High Desert Leather and realized I need some rivets to attach them. What rivets are you all using to attach the metal reinforcement piece. I see Ohio Travel Bag has Jiffy Rivets and I already have my tax ID with them so I was probably going to order from them. What size for 7/8 oz leather? What size for 9/10 or can I get away with the same size for 7/8 oz leather? Single or double cap style for thumb breaks? What snaps are you all using? I have both Line 24 and Pull the Dot snaps. I really like the look of Brigade Gunleathers pancake holsters w/ thumbbreak and wanted to do something similiar. Quote Nightingale Leather
Members Matt Alsaker Posted August 3, 2012 Members Report Posted August 3, 2012 I use a line 24 snap for the thumb break. To hold my reinforcing piece on, I use black tubular rivets and caps from Ohio Travel Bag (model 252). On my holsters that are a piece of 6/7oz lined with a piece of 4/5 oz and have the 20 gauge reinforcing piece, I use the 4/16" rivet and matching cap.
