Johanna Report post Posted August 3, 2008 The SCA is a dynamic organization of historical reenactors who make armor out of leather for "wars" and use leather in many traditional activities. They have meetings and activities all over the world, and members are encouraged to participate under their "persona", a fictional character of the actor's choice of place and time. SCA events are fun for the whole family, and a great opportunity to show off skills for the leatherworker. See Wikipedia for more. Johanna
Schno Report post Posted August 3, 2008 Yes, I am an ubergeek. The SCA, in fact, was my gateway drug to leatherworking.

OutBackP Report post Posted August 6, 2008 Thank you, does indeed sound like fun. So has anyone made a medieval saddle? I think I'll have to have a day researching about saddlers and leatherworkers through the ages. Off topic, but is leather worker one word or two? SimonJester753 Report post Posted September 6, 2010 I use google mail and noticed a advert for Tandy leather in the uk. Anyone here a member? A friend is an inactive member. I went to one of their battle practices in NYC a number of years ago. They met in Union Square park and would go at it pretty hard. Weapons did not have sharp metal edges, but they hit hard and the armor had to work, not just look pretty.
