kayrunp Report post Posted November 11, 2012 Hello, I am new to my consew 226r. I have been problem solving and figuring out how to work things out as I go. My newest problem is the bobbin winder. It seems like it would be the easiest thing to do, but it became all wacked out and I can't get it back. It will start out okay and then it will be either too loose or it will wrap and spring off if i tighten the tension. it also begins to favor a side towards the end. How would i reset and figure this out? any place to find some info on this to problem solve? Thanks for any help. Karen
dirtclod Report post Posted November 11, 2012 (edited) On one machine it did / does the same thing. A couple of times they back lashed in the bobbin case for a real mess. So i tried what i seen Trox i belive it was said. Go around the tension one and a half times then to your bobbin. So far it has helped. But i have had spools of thread that just wouldn't come of the cone right. Not sure if they weren't wound right or what. Sewing their fine but won't wind for a bobbin worth a crap. Trox Report post Posted November 12, 2012 Bobbin winding looks simple, but can be a pain in the...... Bobbin winders and their thread guides are different from machine to machine. On some winders the thread tend to jump out of the tension disk and mess up the winding. To prevent this from happening I let the thread go one time around the disk (instead of just right true it). It is important to have the right tension, if you wind it to tight it give you a uneven bobbin tension (and make a mess, the same happens if its to loose too). I have to loosen up the tension a bit, but get a more consistent woven bobbin this way. It is important to have the thread rack`s thread guide directly in center over the spool. It is just as important here as it is for the machines top thread . Otherwise it will pull thread unevenly of the spool and cause problems. You have to test your winder, give it different speeds and conditions, brake the thread with you fingers etc. to test it. This way you will see how it acts and make your improvements. kayrunp Report post Posted November 13, 2012 Thanks. I started working on finding the right tension. I got it to start winding on pretty good, then it just got funky again about a 1/4 in. Every time I have to do a bobbin, the whole tension is thrown off and i get one side as a solid string. And it changes everytime I do bobbins and rethread. Unfortunately my inner foot just snapped and flew off, so I am on hold until I get a new foot to continue this journey.
