Members buffalo Posted January 18, 2008 Members Report Posted January 18, 2008 I needed a scabbard for a rifle with a 50mm scope. So I made this. Made from 10-12oz Wickett & Craig saddle skirting lined with chap leather. Buff Quote
howardb Posted January 18, 2008 Report Posted January 18, 2008 OK, so I'm reading "Rifle Scabbard" and thinking "Man that's one hell of thing to hang from your belt..." Then I see the saddle. My brain goes "DOH!". It's a beauty! Is that hairy bit in the middle cow or something else? Brent Quote Brent Howard CALG, HLG
Members buffalo Posted January 18, 2008 Author Members Report Posted January 18, 2008 It's cow. My original idea was to use some African animal hide. I went on a safari last year, but most of the hair was to long and just did not look right. So since I had everything else all cut out, I just used cow. Regards Buff Quote
Drac Posted January 18, 2008 Report Posted January 18, 2008 buff there's a couple of nice looking "exotic" cow hair on hide dye jobs out there that would look great on there. there's a great looking leopard print which I use (and a crappy one too. looks more like cheetah and not a good looking cheetah either), tiger, and zebra. Members buffalo Posted January 20, 2008 Author Members Report Posted January 20, 2008 I'm still trying to think of things to do with the back half hides of these African animals I shot. I kind of wanted the real thing not dye job prints. Regards Buff Quote
