Members jlrowe Posted November 18, 2012 Members Report Posted November 18, 2012 Im pretty new to leather work done it for about 4 months now. I bought lot of old figure carving & stamping tools off older guy that was his dads. He made belts for Buck Owens and Merle Haggard. I have two tools i really dont know anything about. Looks like they are made from heavy steel rod and square rod material. The round one is stamped RD. Looks like some kind of matting tool but does someone have example of use. The square one definitely dont know what it was used for. Here is pic. Quote
Members mikesmith648 Posted November 18, 2012 Members Report Posted November 18, 2012 Those look like hand made tools to me. Quote Emergency Room Nurse by profession.......Leatherworker at heart!! Hoping to reverse the order in that one of these days!!
Members Bluesman Posted November 19, 2012 Members Report Posted November 19, 2012 Both tools were made from standard 100 carbon steel stock The round one from drill rod and the the other from key stock. These were hand made with a file and a grinder. Both look like border stamps. If they work go with them. Look like nice stamps.
