carr52 Posted August 12, 2008 Report Posted August 12, 2008 Got some free deer antlers so I made these the other day and thought I'd post a pic of them. I can use the long tine to smooth out the edges if I need to. Tom Quote
Members Wolfsax Posted August 13, 2008 Members Report Posted August 13, 2008 Now I know what to do with that crate of antlers collecting dust. I'm sure I have one in there that'll work! Quote deviantArt senior: Leatherworking and Unique Dream Catchers
Members Kevin Posted August 14, 2008 Members Report Posted August 14, 2008 I had a guy tell me that protiens in the antler help to burnish the leather. I always thought he was very imaginative, but if enzymes in spittle help, maybe he was right. I do think it makes a good burnisher because of the texture anyway. Kevin Quote
Members Srigs Posted August 17, 2008 Members Report Posted August 17, 2008 I use deer antlers for edge slicking since day one. It works great with just plain water as a slicking agent and easy to use. Quote Srigs, http://www.sideguardholsters.com "If everyone is thinking alike, then somebody isn't thinking" - George S.
