Andrew Chee Report post Posted December 5, 2012 Hi. I just came into possession of a consew 206rb-3. The reverse stitches are a little shorter than the forward stitch length. I'd like to fix that. I've seen manuals for the 206rb-5 but the machines are different enough that the instructions don't work for the -3. Does anyone know how to do this or have a manual for a -3 I can get a copy of? Thanks. Andrew
Wizcrafts Report post Posted December 5, 2012 (edited) Manual, schmanual. Try balancing the reverse ratio yourself. Here's how I do it... On the back of the head you will see a crank protruding and clamping into a slotted block. That crank's position in the long slot sets the amount of lift of the alternating feet. There should be a 6 sided slotted bolt on a shaft protruding from the right side of the slotted block. If you loosen that bolt the presser feet can be moved up or down manually. What I do when the stitch length doesn't match in fwd/rev is to lower the inside foot a bit, so it hits the top of the material at about the same time as the needle point makes contact. This causes the stitch length to increase both ways, but more so in reverse. You will have to try different contact timings until you find the best one for bi-directional sewing into the same holes. It may be that you have to set the inside foot to make simultaneous contact with the top of the feed dog itself, without any leather under the feet. Andrew Chee Report post Posted December 6, 2012 I have to say Wiz. You the man! Tried out your suggestion and the stitches are lining up now. I actually called Consew and asked them for a manual for the -3 as well as how to adjust it. They basically told me that the -3 was basically the same as the -1 except for the reverse mechanism and the manuals were the same except for a one page insert detailing the difference and they don't have that sheet anymore. Then their technician tells me that since I am not a sewing machine mechanic that the adjustment is basically too difficult for me to do so I shouldn't even try. Good thing we have this message board. Andrew

dq7133 Report post Posted August 28, 2014 Hi guys, I'm having the same issue (Consew 206RB-2). I've tried adjusting the inside foot as suggested and am able to get the first reverse stitch to line up, but after that it gets out of sync. The reverse stitch seems to be just a little bit shorter. Any other suggestions?
