Shoemakers Tool ?

Recommended Posts

Hi All; Found this tool in a box of shoemakers supplies I purchased cheap,[can't pass up a bargain, need it or not]. There is no name or makers mark on it, and I was told it is used for trimming shoe soles. Any ideas ? Also have set of pliers that look like they are for setting staples. Not sure what the first picture is used for. The second picture looks like knives used to trim soles on a shoe finisher. The rest look like a machine used to trim soles and put a design on the welt.

The tool in Picture 1 looks like a crimper, for fixing old-fashioned shoe buttons. Pictures 2 and 3 are indeed edge cutters, for trimming around the edges of soles on a finishing machine.

Pictures 4 and 5 are a hand-cranked fudge wheel, for applying a pattern to a shoe welt after stitching (see pic).

The first picture is a seam stapler, I use mine on occasion, the staples are made by Apex, I don't know if they are still made though, I have a fair amount of staples left so I haven't checked.

Everything else has been described, I may be interested in the trimmer blades if they still fairly sharp and you want to sell them.
