Sewing Tight Inside Curves

When I machine sew tight inside curves, like around the trigger on a moulded holster, the length of the foot interferes with staying tight to the edge. As a result I end up manually placing several stitches, eyeballing the stitch length, and handcranking. Is that the best strategy? any better ideas for tight inside curves with a machine?

I switch to a right toe outside foot when I sew close to shaped parts of holsters. This way the outer foot does not hit the shaped leather. If the inside foot is too large in front, grind it down a bit.

I personally sew the holster together before doing the molding, that way its still flat or somewhat flat. There are times like repairing a holster or some other instances where you have to stitch right up next to something then I do as Wiz said.
