I recently used some 4 year old vinegaroon on veg tan leather and it did not produce the same rich black that it did 4 years ago. I am not sure if this is because of some difference in the leather or because the vinegaroon is too old. So does anyone know if old vinegaroon produces less black color than new vinegaroon?

Not unusual with it being that old but don't throw it away - just add a bit of iron and vinegar to renew it...

I have some old vinegaroon that I use from time to time. I find that as stated by Chuck, a little more vinigar and iron will bring it back. Also, heating it some helps rejuvinate the chemical reaction.

Before I use it again I heat it up for a little bit then test it. So far (going on about two years now) I just keep adding to it and heating it and it has worked for me.
