Samsung Digital Camera Case

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

My son has bought a digi camera and has set me a challenge to make him a case for said camera.

A few questions for you knowledgable people. What thickness of leather to use . If I use 2-3mm ,to give protection to camera, I would not be able to sew it inside out and then turn it out the other way. Mind, I could probably skive off the edges and then do a saddle stitch up the seam. Second option is to make it out of thinner leather and then put in plenty of soft lining in to give protection.

Any other ideas?

Ian.

There's a book called the art of making leather cases. Its a pretty good book, helped me out quite a bit.

If I was making that I would wet form the front and sew it to the back.

Yes, I had thought of that. But as it is about 3-4" front to back I thought it would be a big ask. Not like the 3/4" for a folding knife.

Regards,

Ian.

It's easier to know what the camera looks like when offering suggestions.

If I was making that, I would wet mold it in my press.

If you can't do that then you can still stitch the front to the back and then stitch in a separate bottom.

Bag the camera and mold it in place.
