benlilly1 Report post Posted May 5, 2013 Here are 2 photos of stitching. Front and back. I have messed with both the thread and bobbin tension and I still can't get it right. What am I doing wrong? I'm using 277 thread and 200 chisel needle.
dirtclod Report post Posted May 5, 2013 (edited) What weight are you trying to sew ? It may be to light for that machine. Try sewing 2 or 3 pieces together and see what happens. Edited May 5, 2013 by dirtclod
benlilly1 Report post Posted May 5, 2013 It's about 6-7 oz. I have tried 2 pieces with the same result. Just starting out, I don't know whether to just adjust one at a time or both.
dirtclod Report post Posted May 5, 2013 I back the top tension off just about as far as it will go and sew a little piece and tighten up as needed when i have one that's way out of whack. Does the bottom tension pull out easy ?
benlilly1 Report post Posted May 5, 2013 Ok, I'll try that...no, the bobbin tension is very snug to pull.
benlilly1 Report post Posted May 6, 2013 Ok, I took off the nut and laid out all the parts...I think this is set up wrong. The thread runs in the groove of the round black disk. So adjusting doesn't do anything. I have more parts to match the other secondary tension. Should I replace the disk with the other parts?
benlilly1 Report post Posted May 6, 2013 I guess by the diagram in the book it's set up right. How often do you adjust the secondary tension wheel? I have not touched it. Another dumb question...the diagram in the book looks like the thread winds around twice on the primary tensioner. Does it??
dirtclod Report post Posted May 6, 2013 I didn't mean to take it apart just loosen it. Sorry about that. The spring and disk are your tension. The thread goes through the top tension one time and the tension on the one and half times then on down to your needle. Thread it the same way Bob is threading his machine I loosen both the top and side tension sew and tighten as needed. You will probely need to loosen your bottom tension if it's pretty snug when you pull on the bobbin thread. Just loosen a half a turn or less. The screw in the bobbin is real short. benlilly1 Report post Posted May 6, 2013 Ok, I wasn't going 1 1/2 times around the tensioner. I'll try that and see if that makes a difference. Thanks Dirtclod!
dirtclod Report post Posted May 6, 2013 Your more than welcome if anything i said has helped you out. I had a machine like yours for a little while but sent it back, i couldn't stand hearing the compressor running all the time and bought the Pro 2000 i've had for 20 years are close to it.
