Members tina67888 Posted May 7, 2013 Members Report Posted May 7, 2013 I got a brass lock I put to install on a bag made of thick leather. The thing is it came with pins and I don't know how to lock them into place. These are very thin pins so I can't wedge a washer on the other end. I was going to use split rivets but I was wondering how the pins are used Any experience? Quote
Tree Reaper Posted May 8, 2013 Report Posted May 8, 2013 Do you have a picture or link for the lock? Quote
Members tina67888 Posted May 8, 2013 Author Members Report Posted May 8, 2013 it came from ohion bag and here are the images from the catologo. as you could see 4 holes in the corner and they gave 4 pins like the pic. i can not figure out how the bag end of those pins get secured Quote
Tree Reaper Posted May 8, 2013 Report Posted May 8, 2013 (edited) Those are likely meant for a #12 copper burr. Have a look at page 19. http://www.ohiotrave...html#/19/zoomed Edited May 8, 2013 by Tree Reaper Quote
Tree Reaper Posted May 8, 2013 Report Posted May 8, 2013 (edited) Tina; I found a sizing chart for burrs. Match up the outside diameter of the pin with the inside diameter of the burr to get the size you need. Edited May 8, 2013 by Tree Reaper Quote
Members tina67888 Posted May 9, 2013 Author Members Report Posted May 9, 2013 That's great, ill look into it. Do you know of screws that might be that thin with those heads? This would be ideal and secure. I know of split rivets but it is the banging that gets me, I don't want to scratch the front heads at all Quote
Tree Reaper Posted May 9, 2013 Report Posted May 9, 2013 You can buy threaded brass screws small as 1/8 but they will have a slotted head. Even a split rivet will require some pounding. I'm not aware of any other secure option but maybe someone else will chime in. If you use something like masking or duct tape on the anvil it will reduce marring of the pin. Quote
