Members scorpiofire Posted May 10, 2013 Members Report Posted May 10, 2013 Hi everyone ! I'm new to leathercrafting, started making floggers a few months ago and quickly became enamoured with leather work and braiding . Here's some pics of my latest toy .I saw the concept on a website and thought it so clever i decided to reproduce it . Its a hybrid whip/ cat O'nine, the body is in essence a snake whip . It is 17 inch long and made up of a shot bag ,4 plait braided belly, a bolster, 12 plait braided overlay. The laces for the overlay are tapered all the way down and are separated into three four plait round braids ,each ending in slapper falls. It was a challenge to myself to learn how to taper long laces and also my first time doing a 12 plait braid. Quote
Members RandallFlagg Posted May 10, 2013 Members Report Posted May 10, 2013 Looks good. Although i was always under the impression a cat O' nine tails was a whip with 9 ends. Does it have that name for a different reason? Quote
Moderator Art Posted May 10, 2013 Moderator Report Posted May 10, 2013 Great work! However, it is a "three balled cat" and a "Cat o' Nine Tails". Art Quote
