olandrea Report post Posted May 11, 2013 I have to split down some bridle leather from 4,7mm to 3,5m what do you think the maximum width you can pull even If you do this in several passes? I tried a width of 19cm and there is no way I could pull it trough! Thanks Olaf
oltoot Report post Posted May 11, 2013 You didn't say how wide your splitter was. I have an Osborne 84 8" and if my blade is sharp and stropped I can pull 6" with relative ease.
olandrea Report post Posted May 11, 2013 (edited) 7.5" wide and 4 feet long! on a 8" pull trough. Edited May 11, 2013 by olandrea
bruce johnson Report post Posted May 11, 2013 Good sharp blade and leather with some body I can usually get about 1-2" less than the blade width without a lot of trouble. On some I am doing the one side and then the other to get through. Depeneds on my leather some and what flavor of splitter I am using too.
olandrea Report post Posted May 11, 2013 Maybe with a chase pattern leather splitter, because they have a thinner blade. But with my Osborne and bridle leather I can't do it.
