Members Jimbob Posted May 18, 2013 Members Report Posted May 18, 2013 I know can buy expensive thinner for Barge glue....is there anything else I can use to make my half can Barge more liquid again.... Starts getting thick... thanks James Quote
Members sheathmaker Posted May 18, 2013 Members Report Posted May 18, 2013 (edited) I haven't ever tried this, but logic says it might work well so it might be worth a try. One of the ingredients in Barge cement is Toluene. There is a product available at most Hardware or Paint stores call "Tulene" It is a generic thinner and the chemical make up suggests it would do the trick. Toluene is also one of the major ingredients in Barge Thinner. Paul Edited May 18, 2013 by sheathmaker Quote
Jaymack Posted May 18, 2013 Report Posted May 18, 2013 Toluene is very toxic, so be careful and work with it in a well ventilated area. My skin reacts to it, so I can't even use it. Quote
Members shtoink Posted May 18, 2013 Members Report Posted May 18, 2013 I concur, toluene is some nasty stuff. Just take a look at that link. Should make those using the barge cement really think twice about dismissing any warnings on the label. Quote
