Seat Button Construction

Recommended Posts

Hi, all, now that I've been riding in my own saddles for years (long enough to see how they hold up) I've got a problem.

Overall the saddles are just great - but over time a bubble develops in front of each of the seat buttons (see pictures). What am I doing wrong in the construction, or what should I be doing to prevent this from developing?

Looks like the seat leather is just getting completely broke in. Look at pictures of others and you will note that many start out looking like that. To eliminate it from happening, move the ear cut down about 1/2" but better yet, IMHO, would be to work harder initially to get seat molded that way to start. One little trick is to mold an exagerated curve into the seat leather when you have it fit and take it off to dry. This takes advantage of the fibers' tendency to 'remember' and then when you give it its final rub in it will stay.

Thanks - I will do that. Excellent advice.

Sorry I took so long to say thanks - I just got around to looking at the forum again today.
