Does the wax keep the leather flavor out of your rum? I like flavored rums myself though I've never actually tried leather flavored rum.... Quote Shirley Aspen Leather Workshop Aspen, CO

I like flavored rums myself though I've never actually tried leather flavored rum.... i'm also a potter so i used wax resist (a very fluid wax) unlike beeswax or pitch (traditional sealers) i rubbed it in the leather (1 coat a day for 3 days) the leather soaked it in nicely and kept the leather plyable and waterproof i let a bass ale soak in it overnight and as a result i have only the lovely taste of ale don't know about rum (can't touch the hard stuff) the high proof stuff might break down the wax most surly would not use a hot beverage Quote
Members fowlball Posted September 9, 2008 Author Members Report Posted September 9, 2008 Nice job. Geez, that looks like it belongs in the 17th century. it happened by accident i used a comination of black and brown dye and coated with wax before i stiched it because i stiched it inside out, when i turned it rightside out it "aged" the leather so where it looked like i drug it behind my truck a little touch up and i was happy Quote
