I've been a long time lurker and lately I've been getting the courage to start posting in a couple of topics... so I thought it was time to come here and post my introduction thread.

I've started this whole thing with a Tandy kit more than a year ago and I've thought myself through tutorials online and a lot of practice (read: now I've got a whole of bad habits to break to really get the hangs of things :D ). I've still got a long way to go to get my swivel knife, bevelling and stitching to a level I'll be satisfied with. But now, I've got a sizeable pile of scraps to try things with and a better understanding of how it should look like

I've also quickly notice that this is an expensive hobby to get into and I started a little online shop ... which more than pays for the hobby after a year of business (just celebrated our 1 year anniversary a couple of days ago). Not trying to quit my day job (well not yet) just getting by and it's working fine for now

It appears to me that you're coming along just fine. You/ll get better as time and projects go by.

If I could give you one piece of advice, whenever you're doing a project, try to cut all the related pieces from the same piece of leather, and whatever you do to one piece, do it to all related pieces as well. That way, when you dye the pieces they will all come out the same shade of color as the rest. That's the plan anyway. I noticed the strap on the wallet and this is why I mentioned this. I hope that will help for future projects and good luck with them all.

When I started, I took the habit of reaching for my scrap bin when I needed to cut a small strap... it worked when there was just one type of hide in there, but now, it's something that I have to remember not to do and cut all my piece from the same piece of leather.
