sammygwyn88 Report post Posted September 13, 2013 Hi all, I sure could use some help figuring out when this saddle was made..the stamp says "Bona Allen company" and the bottom I think says " ft. worth texas" I could be wrong though as it is hard to read, It has a rawhide tree and blevin buckles and there is a code on the stirrup that reads "I111 127665485" Thanks so much for your help and expertise-Sam
tnawrot2 Report post Posted September 13, 2013 Bona Allen was bought by Tandy, which already owned Radio Shack, Tex-Tan and Schoellkoph Saddlery in Dallas, in the late 60's. The top number is the model number, the next four numbers are the month and year made 1276, December 1976, and the last numbers are the serial numbers. Some of Bona Allen also had Jumbo brand on them, a Schoellkoph logo.

Saddlebag Report post Posted September 20, 2013 I was told the numbers would have read 5th mo. 4th day 1985. 1985 is around the time the horns became more upright and taller. There had been a long spell of short squat horns.
