Ladies and Gents,

Have a look at these, I completed these unlined holsters about 3 weeks ago, and the bracelet 4 weeks ago and while there are some mistakes that I find glaring, such as the border getting away from me, I'd like some of your input as well. These are my first attempts in quite a while and I want to get better.

Thanks

-Patrick

Did you use dividers to scribe the border line? The bracelet looks like it might have been too wet when tooled or maybe the edges are irregular.

You did a good job on staining the background. I like the stitching it's nice and even. your first attempts look better than mine. Before you do many more projects you should get some scraps and practice and pratice and pratice, I wish I had.

It looks like you could have cut a little deeper on the holster. you can cut two thirds of the way deep and still have enough strength. I like my border stamped flush against the cut for the border. I use tape on the back of the leather so the leather doesn’t deform when tooled, and I leave it on"the tape" to keep the inside clean looking when I stain. Keep it up. Rob

The bracelet was a piece of scrap that I threw together on a whim so the edges are a bit uneven. I worried about cutting too deep into the leather, next run I make I won't be so tentative about getting deeper into the hide. I used a wing divider but I lacked technique when laying down my line. I changed over to an adjustable groover with the creasing point as well but realized that I need to slow down and follow the curves of the pattern.

Btw, what kind of tape do you use?
