raysouth Report post Posted September 20, 2013 Howdy Folks, With all of the searching I do on the net, I have been seeking sources for hardware, primarily clasps/latches/catches, or whatever the proper name may be, for flat leather bracelets. The closest I came was to a t-bar type catch now being offered by Tandy. Searched Ohio Travel Bag and still nothing that I could find. I have been asked to make a small volume of different flat leather bracelets varying between 3/4" and up to 3" plus but the request threw me when they asked for multiple different styles of catches. I found a ton of sources for round and braided type bracelets but not much of anything else for flat leather use. If anyone has any idea of a source or sources for this hardware, please help me out. God Bless. Ray
EllaB8 Report post Posted September 21, 2013 Hi, Ray! The keywords you want to use are more like "leather bracelet findings" - "findings" will be a more inclusive, general term since companies will list them as clasps, cord ends, etc.. Also, you probably need to look more at jewelry suppliers rather than leathercraft suppliers. There is a newer brand now that is pretty widely available called Regaliz, so you could google that, too. For instance, on Etsy, I entered "Regaliz leather findings" and there are 1500+ results: https://www.etsy.com...to=US&ref=auto3. Another common brand is TierraCast, but I think the Regaliz style ones are more likely what you have in mind. If you'd prefer to order from a company rather than sellers on Etsy, here are some other suggestions: http://www.fusionbeads.com/ http://www.beadaholique.com http://www.rings-thi...KigzCjzRDoUZQ.0 I hope that helps. Let me know if you need any more help! Elizabeth
raysouth Report post Posted September 21, 2013 Hello Elizabeth, Thank you for the information and yes, there is a few items there that I will be able to use. I do prefer to order directly from suppliers, when possible, as costs can soon become beyond what I could expect from return on investment. I am not a major seller, by any means, just on fixed budget, most of the time. I am always amazed at the different terminology used by the craft and suppliers. Words I would never think of using. Never thought of using "findings" even though I have seen it used elsewhere for a couple of things I was seeking. Never learn enough and I suppose that is part of the pleasure of crafting. Again, I cannot thank you enough for the assistance. You have led me down a new and wonderful path of enlightenment and I will be forever grateful. God Bless. artycpt Report post Posted September 27, 2013 depending on the size of the leater you want to add the clasp to, you may be able to use what is called a "ribbon clasp". They are small clasps that you crimp down and come in various sizes. Usually also found in the "findings" area.
