What Kind Of Stiching Is This? Help

I have recently acquired these extremely destroyed boots and I would REALLY love to remake them. HOWEVER:

Around most of the edging of this is a nice bubble edge that curves around corners nicely and I can't seem to figure out how that look was achieved.

The ridges on the tongue look to be just straight stitched with some sort of padded backing?

I was hoping someone on here could give me advice or at least point me in the right direction. I have searched for "Rounded edges" and am not getting what i'm looking for.

I am guessing regular stitching with a foam pad sewn in. Usually you have a pad in the tongue anyways so they did some decorative stitching over top. Check out auto upholstery they do a lot of that kind of thing. Try some decent vinyl remnants at your local fabric store, auto trim supply, shoe finding place. Then contact cement some foam to of a sample piece for the tongue and then sew your stitches to get your look. An auto upholstery place should have some foam if you can't find a shoe finding place nearby. A shoe repair shop if you have one handy can help you as well.

Thank you very much for the reply! running with the lead in the auto-industry for tutorials and have already found better results.

I think I was looking in ALL the wrong places, and the fact that it is just a regular stitch with padding search terms in regards to edging, bubble finish, and rounded edge weren't really showing up.

I'll get some samples/scraps and practice a bunch to see if I can achieve this look.
