Members ranchmom77 Posted October 26, 2013 Members Report Posted October 26, 2013 Hi all I've got a fashion diva stepdaughter who is 9 years old, and I want to make her a purse for Xmas. I'm thinking pink with a mix of metallic silver and hair on hide. I've never made one before but I just bought the hobo pattern from slc and I think I'll be able to figure it out. What type of leather do you usually use for making handbags? I've found a lot of nice prints, some pretty chap leather, and some upholstery leather that looks like it will work but I'd love the opinions of some bag makers who have been there, done that. Thanks so much! Quote I asked God for all things that I might enjoy life.. instead, God gave me life that I might enjoy all things.
Members Undeadzombiehunter Posted October 26, 2013 Members Report Posted October 26, 2013 Anything form upholstery leather to garment leather. Almost anything will do, it is all design dependent. I assume you are machine sewing, in which case lighter is better, if you are going to line it. Quote
Members ranchmom77 Posted October 27, 2013 Author Members Report Posted October 27, 2013 Thank you for your reply... Actually I was going to be be hand sewing it and that brings up another question.. Do I saddle stitch or "regular sew" stitch? Quote I asked God for all things that I might enjoy life.. instead, God gave me life that I might enjoy all things.
