I have made about 55 of these functional and decorative fireplace bellows. The tooled leather is inset into the wooden bellows and glued in place. I started by carving the images into the wood but found inlaying leather much quicker and easier to get in more detail. But that is just my opinion...I may be right!

Very cool indeed! You don't see many of those anymore. Nice work.

Leather has it's own natural flaws... So does the artist! :}

Very nice. I was just considering making myself one of these for campfires and those times I'm trying to hurry up the charcoal for the grill. Did you find a pattern, or make your own?

I made my own. I used, as a guide, a hand carved bellows I bought in Norway when I was traveling through there in 1984.

But that is just my opinion...I may be right!
