RbarDleather Report post Posted November 13, 2013 My Ferdco 440 is sewing in reverse. I have no idea why it is doing this and I don't know where the switch is. Can anyone help? Thanks!
tnawrot2 Report post Posted November 13, 2013 If you have a servo motor, there should be a switch on the motor that changes directions.
RbarDleather Report post Posted November 13, 2013 If you have a servo motor, there should be a switch on the motor that changes directions. I thought I found the switch but either it wasn't the switch or it didn't work.
tnawrot2 Report post Posted November 13, 2013 Is there a tag on the servo motor which would indicate manufacture and model number. If so can you post it here>
Wizcrafts Report post Posted November 13, 2013 If your servo has up and down buttons to control its functions, one of the positions will control the direction. On mine it is S2. I get there by holding the down button until it stops at S0. Then I push Up until it gets to S2. If you have this configuration, once at S2, press up or down again to change direction. Try running the motor and see if that did it.
dirtclod Report post Posted November 13, 2013 (edited) Do you have the handle pushed up ? If you do it will sew in reverse. If it is pull it down and it will sew forward. Edited November 13, 2013 by dirtclod
RbarDleather Report post Posted November 13, 2013 Do you have the handle pushed up ? If you do it will sew in reverse. If it is pull it down and it will sew forward. Here is exactly what happend, hopefully this may help. I sat down and sewed on a piece of scrap before starting my project. As I was sewing my stitch length knob became unscrewed and fell off all on its own. I took off the plates and I had to move the piece inside the plates to get the knob screwed back. I used my manual the best I could . . . (it is so bad and not user friendly). I am wondering if somehow it is stuck in this reverse mode, but looking at my manual, it looks like I have the model that does not go in reverse. Here is my motor information: Cheering Sewing Machine co. Model QL-400 . I have messed with the switch that I thought was the forward/reverse switch on the motor and it does nothing. I have no idea what do to. I have not had this long and I am just getting comfortable and good with sewing with it. Any other suggestions? Thank you! RbarDleather Report post Posted November 13, 2013 The feed dog is definitely feeding my leather to towards me and sewing in reverse.
tnawrot2 Report post Posted November 13, 2013 When I went to the Ferdco site it mentioned that your machine is a modified GA5. I would contact Raphael Sewing and ask for instructions. It seems that when the knob fell off, the forward/reverse mechanism was disconnected. http://www.raphaelsewing.com/install_ga5/ga5-install.htm
