TXAG Report post Posted December 5, 2013 So I thought it might be fun to make myself a wallet with a kit from leathercrafttools.com. Here is a link so you can see what the finished wallet looks like... http://www.leathercrafttools.com/kits/wallet/m-long-wallet/list.jsp I received the kit and after contacting them, received some revised instructions that I think I can actually use now... This is the kit I got...I also got the optional pockets and gusset... http://www.leathercrafttools.com/shouhin.jsp?id=9141 Now I have to decide if I want to leave it plain, ala http://global.rakute...g/item/2170579/ ...or do I want to try tooling it? I'll probably hand sew it, though it looks like they used a machine on the pics on leathercrafttools website...I'd prefer to hand sew for the reasons I've (and others) stated in other threads. Stain it or leave it to darken naturally over time? Thoughts? Ideas?
Cyberthrasher Report post Posted December 5, 2013 I'd tool it and stain it, at least minimally. Be sure to transfer that to a pattern, cuz that's pretty high price for a wallet kit. There might be $20 of material there.

There might be $20 of material there. You're probably right...but I don't really have the funds to go out and buy large pieces of leather for it to be cost effective right now. I was already planning on copying the pattern for future use, so that is a good idea.
Cyberthrasher Report post Posted December 5, 2013 Ah, that would do it. For future projects that you don't have the leather for, if you're on Facebook, check out this group..... https://www.facebook.com/groups/147800435424123/ But, that's why I was saying to copy the pattern - be sure you get every dollar possible out of the purchase
