I have been using the spirit dye in my airbrush. I tried English Saddle Tan oil and it was great. Other than I coughed for hour or so. I guess I should wear my mask when I use the stuff. Bad throat irritation. Yes, I was inside without a lot of ventilation.

I use my respirator all the time and I still end up with black snot. It's kind of a reminder to turn the air down a little, but it still happens. Nowhere near as bad for me as when I didn't have the respirator.

I am inside a 12 x 24 with electric heat. Never noticed the irritation with the other dyes. I will definitely take my sand blasting mask down to the shop.

Yeah, you have more room than I do in my designated area. But, it's a section of my basement. Sometimes when I'm spraying black I'll look up and go upstairs and see a cloud of particles filling the basement. Someday I need to figure out how to retrofit a hood system above my work area.

Best to remember that the mist cloud created by spirit dyes is explosive in the presence of a naked flame! This includes pilot lights in heating boilers, etc.

I originally used Angelus dyes but couldn't handle the ethanol smell of them, then swapped to craftsha Japanese waterbased dye they had some nice colours as well but the penetration of the dye through the leather wasn't that good for some leather so I now use the Fiebings Oil dye and I really like it.

I can handle the smell of these but to be on the safe side I purchased a Artograph spraybooth through ebay and it works great. I had to purchase a voltage convertor to get it to run properly but I wouldn't be without it now no more having to wear a mask or having a spray cloud above me. They do a couple of sizes, i've got the bigger one best price for me was off ebay due to the shipping cost.
