SACL Report post Posted December 27, 2013 (edited) After final dying and top coat application is there something more consistent to use to give a good final buff/polish? I was thinking of a bench top buffer with a polishing pad or even making my own pad out of 100% wool, cutting it in two inch rounds, stacking them 2 inches high and securing them into a mandrel (see pic) Then attach to my drill press? I don't know? Shoot me some ideas or should I just stick to the old cotton rag and elbow grease? Thanks in advance. camano ridge Report post Posted December 27, 2013 Are you talking about burnishing the edges or polishing the overall piece?
SACL Report post Posted December 27, 2013 Sorry, overall piece. My projects consist of belts between 1-1/4" - 1-3/4" wide. The picture above is something I saw on eBay for edge burnishing and thought it might also work for overall polishing.
camano ridge Report post Posted December 27, 2013 (edited) Sorry don't see a picture above. However I have done Leatherwork for 40 years, all I have ever used is a piece of shearling to rub and buff the finish coat. An even polish will happen if you have an even coat of final finish. What are you using for a final finish. Edited December 27, 2013 by camano ridge
