Members tsdock Posted January 9, 2014 Members Report Posted January 9, 2014 Hello, I am new to leather work and this forum. I am in the process of buying a couple veg tanned kangaroo hides.I want to make a few wallets, and straight razor strops. I read somewhere that a kangaroo hide has to be pre-stretched in order to make a strop. Could someone tell me how to go about pre-stretching a Roo hide?THanks any info would be helpful. Quote
Tree Reaper Posted January 9, 2014 Report Posted January 9, 2014 I haven't worked with Roo hide but hides are usually wet and then stretched and allowed to dry in a stretched condition. Quote

Tree Reaper Posted January 9, 2014 Report Posted January 9, 2014 Depending on the size to be stretched. You can build a frame and use rope through holes in the hide or buy clamps made for that purpose. I would suggest a Mechanical Advantage to increase the pulling force. Quote
