Members twofour878 Posted October 3, 2008 Members Report Posted October 3, 2008 http://www.elizabethancostume.net/custompat/index.html It's a website that you punch in the measurements and it generates a corset pattern. It seems to have some decent beginner info on useing the pattern and making the corsets as well. Anybody ever tried this? Quote
tashabear Posted October 3, 2008 Report Posted October 3, 2008 I haven't (far too late period for me), but Drea Leed is one of the pre-eminent researchers on Elizabethan clothing working today. Lots and lots of people have used this pattern generator with excellent results. That being said: You will not get this silhouette (link may be NSFW*) with this pattern generator. The curvy silhouette is Victorian. Elizabethan corsetry gives a more conical silhouette, creating more of a straight line from bust to waist (this link is fine). Just didn't want anyone to be upset if this doesn't offer the solution they're looking for. *NSFW: Not Safe For Work Quote
Members twofour878 Posted October 3, 2008 Author Members Report Posted October 3, 2008 Good point, I didn't know the difference between the two types (hence the researching right now). I'll have to look up victorian information as well. Thanks. Quote

The ones that make the pretty pretty sexy curvy silhouette, though, are generally Victorian inspired. Quote
Members twofour878 Posted October 3, 2008 Author Members Report Posted October 3, 2008 Since it might be useful to some people thinking about making a corset, this was a fairly educational site with some info on picking the right style, and measuring for your pattern. http://www.costumebeginner.com/corsets/shapes.htm Quote
