i would like to try the pattern i have seen on some projects that incorporates simply cutting straight lines with the swivel knife and using a seeder of some sort to break up the line, in kind of a grid pattern. I cannot find a close up of this anywhere and have some questions. Do the cut lines go right up to the seeder or stop farther away? I assume the straight line is beveled in some way to make it more pronounced and was wondering what is used for that. any help appreciated.

Hello and welcome to the forum!

I think this is what you are after. See the #6 post especially. http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=35683&hl=quilted#entry220861

Hope that helps!

I cut my lines first and then double bevel them. The tool I prefer is a beveled tickler. It will open the cut line, bevel, and burnish with one tool in a pas or two if the moisture is right. . I bevel the complete length of the lines, then go back and use a seeder at the intersections. Here is a link to my webpage that shows the profile of the beveled ticklers vs. regular ticklers - http://brucejohnsonleather.com/content/index.php/leather_tools_for_sale/leather-ticklers-for-sale/ .
