Members mmcoon Posted January 26, 2014 Members Report Posted January 26, 2014 I have the Tandy Hand Press, but there are times I need to set rivets in places that cannot be reached with this press. I also tend to use a thicker, stiffer leather, so I cannot bend it to make it fit underneath. Obviously, I can set them by hand, but is there something that exists that is "long-armed" or something? Sometimes there are a lot of rivets and I'd much prefer to use a press or something... Thanks in advance! M Quote
Tree Reaper Posted January 27, 2014 Report Posted January 27, 2014 The two questions I have, how deep of a throat will you require on the press and what's your budget? Quote
Members mmcoon Posted January 27, 2014 Author Members Report Posted January 27, 2014 I don't know what range they have as far as throat depth, but 6 or 8" would be nice. I'm not sure what this kind of thing costs.... Quote
Tree Reaper Posted February 6, 2014 Report Posted February 6, 2014 There are a variety of presses sold by Weaver, Ohio Bag etc., most are limited to 5-6 inch throats but you can phone them to verify. You might consider modifying a deep throat lever press. Buy the standard dies and modify the ram to accept them. http://www.amazon.com/ABS-Import-8600-0138-Throat-Capacity/dp/B00E0NG20U Quote
