Mechani's Belt

Hi:

Been asked by a customer to make a mechanics belt. I have googled images and have a pretty good idea of what is needed and have gotten the buckles (thank you Zack White Leather) but I was wondering if anyone had any tips before I get started. For instances, does the buckle require skiving as other belts, what weight leather should be used to cover the buckle?

As always I appreciate any help anyone can give.

looks like there are two styles, since u ask about skiving yours must be the hidden buckle style not the double prong?

As long as all it's doing is holding pants up I'd treat it like normal belt.
