Magjua Report post Posted April 9, 2014 Hello! I bought a 10oz double shoulder for belts and it is quite stiff. I have finished it in three ways: some Vinageroon (with Neatsfoot after), some Mink Oil and some Neatsfoot Oil. They are all still stiff, a couple hung to dry over a beam and when I laid them flat they have wrinkles where the bend was. I keep oiling and it is getting a little softer. Is it possible to oil too much and ruin them or should I soak them in oil? Thanks! Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
WyomingSlick Report post Posted April 9, 2014 Are you hanging them with the grain side down, that is on the inside of the curve. That is an important thing to remember with leather, particularly when storing it. Keep the grain side on the inside ad the flesh side out. Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Magjua Report post Posted April 9, 2014 I did, over a 1 inch pipe, they were soaked though as they went through the Vinegaroon and then the soda bath.
