Members phampton123 Posted May 8, 2014 Members Report Posted May 8, 2014 Hi, I am a beginner leather hobbyist. I have made some small projects and want to make something bigger. I can't afford a machine at the moment so everything is hand done. I want to make a bag similar to the one in the attached photo. I have a sewing awl, 2 goods japan holes punches (one six prong, one two prong) for making the sewing holes, and lots of waxed thread. When I use these punches, I am going to punch all the way through to my poundo board. My newb question is that if I make holes on the front piece of the bag, and make holes on the gusset piece of leather, can I sew them together? Or will one piece have too many holes? What is the way to go about this? Should I clip the two pieces together and then try to punch through both pieces at the same time? I have decided to eliminate the front pocket on the bag to try and make things easier. Thanks Quote
