Rowdybarn Report post Posted May 9, 2014 I am brand new to the leather working world. I have tools on order but have not recieved them yet. Coming into this, I knew I wanted to draw my own patterns, so I have just completed my first pattern. What do you guys think? Any critique or compliment is welcome. rktaylor Report post Posted May 10, 2014 I am far from an expert and further from an artist, but I am also attempting some floral design. I have Bob Park's book and compared your design to some of those he displays. The first thing I see is some large blank areas between the flowers. Maybe the flowers are too far apart. Bob talks about spacing and balance between elements. I also think you need more 'non flower' elements. Maybe some stumps. The two smaller flowers seem disconnected. That's a lot of information from someone with no experience, so take it for what it's worth. I don't get a commission, but Bob's book was a value buy for me. MattTheHat Report post Posted May 30, 2014 I think it's beautiful! I'm a newbie too. There is more room betwixt the vines and what not than you'd normally see in a Sheridan pattern, as Randy mentions, but I still think the design looks very, very nice. I'm going to get around to designing some of my own patterns one of these days, and I hope my first looks a fraction as nice as yours. -Matt
