Members brismith70 Posted May 31, 2014 Members Report Posted May 31, 2014 (edited) I made this for a colleague at the office. It's made from a 4-5 Oz. veg tan. The lining is a full grain pig skin. Dyed in a Fiebing's British Tan. It's all hand-stitched. It is actually my 4th leather project ever and unfortunately, I know where every single mistake is. Edited May 31, 2014 by brismith70 Quote

Members Rohn Posted May 31, 2014 Members Report Posted May 31, 2014 Lots of great work. As far as the mistakes I don't see any. It looks wonderful to me. Quote

Members MonicaJacobson Posted June 1, 2014 Members Report Posted June 1, 2014 Wow, that's a ton of work. That must have been 40 hours or something. Quote
Members Pauls Leather Posted June 4, 2014 Members Report Posted June 4, 2014 Impressive. I woudn't even know where to start with a project like this. I may get the courage to make a bag one day. Quote

Members craftsman827 Posted June 5, 2014 Members Report Posted June 5, 2014 VERY NICE JOB !!! WHAT METHOD DID YOU USE TO DYE THE CASE ? Air brush ? Quote
Members brismith70 Posted June 5, 2014 Author Members Report Posted June 5, 2014 (edited) Thank you everyone. Very nice of you. You are all too kind. Craftsman: yes. I put on three coats with an airbrush. Then a top coat 50/50 mix of acrylic matte and water. Edited June 5, 2014 by brismith70 Quote
Members brismith70 Posted June 5, 2014 Author Members Report Posted June 5, 2014 Monica: I only do leather working as a hobby in my spare time. And my full time job takes up A LOT of time. So, I only work a little here and there. I didn't exactly keep track of the time, but all in, I'd say I put in approximately 90 to 100 hours. Quote
Members MonicaJacobson Posted June 5, 2014 Members Report Posted June 5, 2014 Yeah, I guess I can see that. The lining itself (which I have not attempted yet) probably adds a fairly large extra time percentage, and you have a lot of little details all over that thing. Quote
