Adler 69-373 Presser Foot And Feeding Foot Synch Problem

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Thank you for this wonderful forum. Without it i would probably waste my money on any "industrial machine" which could not handle what i needed. After reading for a long time and considering the limited availibilty of leather sewing machines here, i have finally got an Adler 69-373 cylinder arm, what a heavy machine. If it is Adler (not durkopp -adler) , so i think it must be pre 1980?

Anyway, i tested the machine and it was working good. Cleaned it up inside and out and started to test again. It was skipping a lot of stitches, so i tried different needles from different manufacturers but nothing helped.

So i got the manual and starting to play with the settingst. Obviously i have made a mistake somewhere along the road which messed up the synch between the feeder foot and the presser foot.

The material pressor foot is always down, not moving at all and the feeder foot is moving out of sync from the needle (when the needle is up the foot is down and vice versa). I tried to get them back into synch but whatever i do i can not manage to get them back to work in harmony. post-52808-0-25580700-1404230109_thumb.j

The manual not really talks about the sync between these two or how to set it up correctly.

I will really appriciate any help!

Thanks a lot

Yossi

Hello. The needle and both presser feet should touch the plate/feed dog at the same time when the needle is on the down stroke. In your first picture, it shows an allen screw that holds the linkage to the presser feet. This screw is on the back of the machine on the far right of the machine. Loosen that screw and one of the feet should drop or can be pulled down to the plate/feed dog. This is a good starting point. Steve

Hi Steve

Thanks for your reply. Yup, the allen key is there for around 4-5 hours :bawling:

I have tried almost eny combination but i cant figure out that sweet spot where the feeder fott meets the dog and pulls the material while the needle on down stroke.

It never comes up the correct way.

And if somehow i manage to sync the feeder and the dog, thn the pressure foot wont move at all..

Any tips on which position should i put the needle before resetting the foot height with the allen key?

Finally done.

Now it works like it should..

Apparently there is a chapter in the manual called "advancing movement of the upper feed foot" which lets you to position the the foot on top of the dog by loosening two screw on the cam insinde the arm.

it was a little bit tricky to set it up since once the cam is loose it is a bit hard to get it screwed back again at the correct position since it moves and you no comfortable acces to it.

Steve, thanks for the guidence.
