Members eng92cap Posted August 5, 2014 Members Report Posted August 5, 2014 Hello to all! My first day here. I want to make a replica of WW II USN cloth flying helmet.(Headpiece worn by fliers in Pacific air battles). Pilot had leather cups sewn to cap (helmet) over their ears to hold radio speakers. See picture at link below. Can anyone tell me what weight of leather to use? What type of leather? Best way to make a mold to form wet leather? Many thanks for you help, respectfully, eng92cap. Quote
Tree Reaper Posted August 5, 2014 Report Posted August 5, 2014 A plastic funnel should work, cut the stem off and mold over the inverted funnel. 1.5-2 oz. leather. Quote
Members EricNS Posted February 21, 2015 Members Report Posted February 21, 2015 The originals were molded rubber not leather Quote
