Wishful Report post Posted September 22, 2014 Looks good, what did you use for weight s?
Sanch Report post Posted September 23, 2014 I didn't put any weight in them other than the acorn top cap they are fine for me and that is what suits me!
rlkey Report post Posted September 23, 2014 Those look great and I really dig the square face mallets. Where did you find the delrin? I've looked online but haven't been able to find a good source.
cradom Report post Posted September 23, 2014 I would also like to know where to get Delrin.
Sanch Report post Posted September 23, 2014 Piedmont Plastics is a good source gentlemen
cradom Report post Posted September 24, 2014 Following that link I found this: http://www.eplastics.com/Acetal_Delrin_Rod 2 to 3 inches in diameter, by the foot. Not too bad. Wonder how much bounce it has.
Sanch Report post Posted September 24, 2014 I have found the "bounce" to be just right for me but then I have never used anything but my hand made delrin mauls and now mallets..well I forget myself in comparison to rawhide mallets I can say I prefer the delrin any day of the week. the rawhide mallets I have are old osbourne mallets and very very rarely see any of my Gomph-Hackbarth tools or any of my cheap tools for that fact..They aren't balanced like my mauls and mallets........ cradom Report post Posted September 24, 2014 Thank you for the information. One last question. Did you bore it your self? How easy is it to drill, for example, can I do it without a press?
Sanch Report post Posted September 24, 2014 A press is recommended to get a good straight hole but yes a hand drill will do in a pinch pilot hole an a good sharp bit. And get after it!
