Members LouraLeather Posted September 26, 2014 Members Report Posted September 26, 2014 Hey guys, I've been painting my edges with the same Fiebings Pro Oil Dyes that I use for my projects and was curious about the difference between the Pro Oil Dyes and Edge Kote, I've never used Edge Kote so I have no experience with it! Thanks for the help. Cheers, Lourenço Quote
Members billybopp Posted September 26, 2014 Members Report Posted September 26, 2014 Edge kote is more of a glossy flexible paint than a dye. About the best use for it is putting a finished edge on leathers that do not burnish well. Bill Quote
King's X Posted September 26, 2014 Report Posted September 26, 2014 I stick to plain dye. I have found the edge coat to be too messy for me. Quote Greetings from Central Texas! The Grain Side Up blog #TheGrainSideUp
Members thefanninator Posted September 26, 2014 Members Report Posted September 26, 2014 (edited) If you want to make a fine finished edge on something that doesn't burnish like thin chrome tanned stuff ... I recommend Tandy Pro Edge paint. It's made by Fenice in Italy. There are a couple of recent threads on it. If you're burnishing thicker plain ole veg tan go with Hidepounder's tutorial: http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=18101 Edited September 26, 2014 by thefanninator Quote http://www.instagram.com/fannintexas/
