Members sbyrd68 Posted November 1, 2014 Members Report Posted November 1, 2014 Hi- I want to skive out the back side of a belt taking out only about an ounce of leather in a small area maybe less than an inch. What would be a good hand tool to do this with. I'm adding another piece of leather to the backside and want the joined points to look flush hiding the seems. Thanks, Steve B. Quote
Members Redochre Posted November 1, 2014 Members Report Posted November 1, 2014 Personally I would use the safety beveler that Tandy sells. I'm sure the gurus on here would have better suggestions, some of pros would probably just use their round knife. Quote
mlapaglia Posted November 1, 2014 Report Posted November 1, 2014 I use my french edger for small areas. If I need it wider I just move it over and take another cut and so on. ITs what I use to remove half the thickness on the back of belts. Look at the tutorial from Bruce Johnson. The one on french edgers. Quote
Members billybopp Posted November 1, 2014 Members Report Posted November 1, 2014 Safety skiver, round knife, leather paring knife, or even a small block plane. Bill Quote
