Kuyote Report post Posted November 18, 2014 Hello, I'm trying to get started sewing leather, so have been looking for an inexpensive singer 111. I found a pair of machines, a 111w102, and 31-15. The 111 ran well, but has a 3000 rpm motor, with clutch. The 31 has a 1700rpm motor with a separate clutch. Will the 111 work well on the 31's table using the 1700rpm motor? It fits, but I'm not sure if the motor will be strong enough. At the moment, I don't have plans for anything thicker than 1/4 of an inch, so should be able to use the 111, until I outgrow it. Constabulary Report post Posted November 18, 2014 Depends on the power but I´m sure it will! I once ran my 111G156 with a 370Watts 1400rpm clutch motor - no problems - just a bit too fast. I switched to a servo motor and would never go back to a clutch. This is probably something you should consider. If you don´t mind post some pictures of the machines - I always like to see other peoples "old cast iron"
Kuyote Report post Posted November 18, 2014 I'll get some pics up soon. I will be going with a servo, after I save up a little. Thanks for the reply!
