Yudhabatik Report post Posted December 2, 2014 Hi everyone, i'm Yudha from Indonesia. i got a project for my study in college to make a tooled handbag. the problem that i need to ask, as an amateur, i have no idea which leather that good enough for tooling, so i've bought a vegtan buffalo (water buffalo) hide because it is very difficult to looking after an exact cowhide that i needed in my city. the question is, is it possible to tool a water buffalo hide? is there any treatment/result/process differences with this kind of hide? thanks! Glendon Report post Posted December 2, 2014 The specific animal does not matter as much as the process. If it is vegtan, then you should be able to tool it. I have not used water buffalo before, so I do not know if it will be easier or harder to tool. Some animals do have hides that are denseer then others that will make it harder to work with.
