Members D1ave Posted December 2, 2014 Members Report Posted December 2, 2014 I was wondering if the old sewing machine in my parents attic would be suitable for leatherwork ? It's a Singer 28k hand cranked of the ones that has a wooden lid. Quote Sometimes you have to step out of the light to realize just how bright it is.
Members DoubleC Posted December 2, 2014 Members Report Posted December 2, 2014 I have one and I use it on light leathers. like 2 oz. But I wouldn't use it on anything thicker. And make sure you get leather or denim thread for it. Cheryl Quote http://www.etsy.com/shop/DoubleCCowgirl

Members Tramps Leatherworking Posted December 2, 2014 Members Report Posted December 2, 2014 For light work/repair --- set up with the proper needle thread combination, it would be fine. These machines are beautiful works of art and function and should be used when possible, I have two old Singer treadles 90+ years old, one of which I use daily.
