I was wondering if the old sewing machine in my parents attic would be suitable for leatherwork ?

It's a Singer 28k hand cranked of the ones that has a wooden lid.

I have one and I use it on light leathers. like 2 oz. But I wouldn't use it on anything thicker. And make sure you get leather or denim thread for it. Cheryl

For light work/repair --- set up with the proper needle thread combination, it would be fine. These machines are beautiful works of art and function and should be used when possible, I have two old Singer treadles 90+ years old, one of which I use daily.
