Members papaw Posted December 4, 2014 Members Report Posted December 4, 2014 (edited) I have never made a box with open top, I am doing it with the edges (corners) being cut at 45 deg. then gluing and then saddle stitching. I am using 8 oz. veg tan. Do I set the cutback 1/8" to make the 45 deg. angle or a little less, what I don't want to have is a pucker on the edge. Also should my stitch line be 1/8"setback from edge. I am trying to do it like Nigel Armitage video. Don't run into a lot I can't find answers to on here, but got to much $$ in this leather. Members DavidL Posted December 4, 2014 Members Report Posted December 4, 2014 (edited) In theory the distance away from the edge should be close if not exactly to the thickness of leather. Using the wood jig nigel uses it should give the same distance as the thickness regardless of the leather. 45 deg.pdf Edited December 4, 2014 by DavidL Quote
