needles Report post Posted January 12, 2015 (edited) hi guys client arrives with a cartridge box, expailning he likes the napoleonic era Ive been asked to sort a belt out for this box, which in itself isn't a problem, but owner asked me a question, which i don't know, what is attached to the two buckles suspended below the bag? any help answers please. camano ridge Report post Posted January 13, 2015 (edited) That looks similar to an 1804 British Pattern Cartidge box they were distributed to many of Englands european allies Spain, Portugal etc. during the Nepolionic wars. The buckles attached the the shoulder strap. These were not worn on the belt but on a shoulder strap similar to a baldric. ON the example you show there is a Sam Browne stud or button stud between the buckles. On the originals this would have been a leather button.
