I am kinda new to this awesome hobby. I've getting the hang of carving and tooling, even made a couple of knife sheaths, a holster and a few other thing, but now I'm gonna try my hand at dying. I have used Tandy's antique gel stains and had what I think are good results but those are pretty simple. I want to do some different colors on a Celtic cross design. From what I have seen on YouTube I need some small paintbrushes. If anyone has any tips to make it easier I would greatly appreciate it. Also what is the easiest way to clean those brushes or do I just have to throw them away and get new ones for each project?

To clean brushes and or equipment after you use them,

As a rule of thumb, I use; whatever that medium calls for

if its oil - I might use turps or turpintine, or Mineral spirits

if its a water based paint such as acrylics - I use water

if its Alcohol stain - I use Alcohol

if its Oil stain - I use leather dye reducer

Hope this might be the guide your needing. Good luck to you ----- Wild Bill46
